Kites, Joan Rivers, and Cairo Time Premiere
So during this week the TriBeCa Film Festival has started, so there has been a lot of bustling around the building I work in. Green Carpets, and various interns from the TriBeCa Film Festival Building have been running around, and security seems to be more intense. I haven’t actually seen anything or attended any of the events, but the atmosphere is pretty fun to watch.
One of the projects I’ve worked on is actually having their premiere this Sunday (today), which is exciting. Since Cairo Time, is being shown this Sunday, we were asked to send them the final finish so they could have the poster blown up and made in time.
This is the final finish of the Cairo Time Poster. It has definitely gone a long way from the original preliminary comps. http://kpho.wordpress.com/2010/03/09/stop-its-cairo-time/
We’ve also been assigned a new film, Kites, which is actually being re-edited for the US Release. From what I know of the film, it’s one of those Action-Packed Romance films, that are starring 2 well-known actors for their respectable countries. Our target posters were a mixture of Bad Boys, James Bond, Jerry Bruickheimer films, Mission Impossible, and “Sex and Guns” appeal. It was really interesting to watch the creative direction they took on the film. They said it reminded them of how they used to do “Hollywood” films back in their day. One of the main reasons why they opened their NYC Studio was to get away from the whole LA feel, of business. To be honest though, as ridiculous as some of their ideas were, I think in the end they really do know what they’re talking about.
We’ve also been working on a Joan Rivers Documentary, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, which I got to watch the screener for. To be honest, it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think they portrayed Joan Rivers as exactly who she is in a humanized manner. Since I didn’t really know much about her, it was rather entertaining to see how she actually handles her life. Not saying that it’s a good nor bad, it’s just Joan Rivers, what else can you say. She’s a woman determined to be successful and famous.
