“This Business is built on lies.”

Out of context it sounds rather harsh at first, but honestly it was meant with good intent. I find it personally hilarious when one of my supervisors said this, and thinking about it more in-depth it is slightly true.

This week has already been incredibly intense with the amount of work I’ve been getting. In my last post, I guess I wasn’t joking when I said I will be steppin’ up. I get the feeling that Vivek is trying to prepare me to be more of an independent thinker when it comes my role in this company. He’s definitely opened the channels for me  to have overall control and management with projects that I would like to see done or take the initiative on, but  sometimes that can be overbearing. On Monday, he wanted me to look more into researching what they would need to fix their servers and in what capacity they should do it in. Pretty much it was a lot of technological based knowledge that I did have to some degree, but a lot more complex. This is where his motivation came in in order for me to really grab and idea and go with it. He explained that you’re going to be put in situations where you have no idea what the client is talking about and no direction. So therefore, you have to work it out the best you can and there is no right or wrong. I think that hit it home for me because in a way I do work with the idea of doing something the right way opposed to the “wrong” way. It definitely allows a lot of room for creativity, and it’s hard  sometimes to get used to those freedoms where anything is possible.

I’ve also been working on an old project that has been revisited before my time here. This band from Ecuador called Prime Minister, that Indika worked with earlier on in their years, has asked them to make a Poster for their upcoming National Concert Tour. James and Vivek have asked me to start doing some research and doing sketches. It’s kind of nice because I feel like they’re giving me full creative control of this project for the ideas I have so far. Here are some of the compos that I’ve created so far.

Alongside with making comps for the Prime Ministers Posters, I’ve also been given the assignment to create a power point presentation on Indika for Vivek to use during a presentation he will be showing to the GTD CEOs in Ecuador. It’s kind of intimidating because I know he has big expectations, of my work. I got some great ideas for it, and I definitely want to incorporate some video into it. I kind of like being able to dibble, dabble in a bunch of different type of things that I enjoy doing that isn’t just Graphic Design.

Besides all that, I have been helping James with the creative for “Let it Rain” and have had some great discussions about the movie itself. I think I really enjoy being able to talk conceptually or artistically about a movie and its overall analysis of characters, etc . I just love movies and films in general, haha. I think if I am to continue my pursuit I would definitely want to stick in the film industry.
